Classic, Old Hollywood Microwedding at Bar Lurcat Minneapolis

Don’t be fooled; we didn’t actually crack the code to time travel and transport ourselves back to Old Hollywood for Carly and Doug’s Minneapolis microwedding.

But it sure looks like we did.

Carly and Doug’s intimate microwedding at Bar Lurcat Minneapolis was classic and timeless, down to the last piece of cutlery on the harvest table. The photo later in this gallery of Doug’s jaw basically on the floor when he first saw Carly? Yeah, soooo, that’s how I felt the entire day about the vibes this microwedding was giving.

With only fifteen-ish people in attendance and the cue for the ceremony to begin being nothing more than everybody looking around at each other and throwing out a collective, “So, we ready to go then?,” this microwedding was an exercise in going with the flow.

Starting the Microwedding at Home

My day capturing Carly and Doug’s intimate wedding collection began at Carly’s parents’ house, joining her, her mom, her dad, and her best friend for the getting ready portion of the morning. I’m obsessed with how the setting of her parents’ home is something that simply can’t be replicated. Those photos are truly one-of-a-kind and personal to Carly’s story. Between the kitchen cabinetry, the clock on the wall, and the gorgeous front living room windows, there’s no overlooking that this is a home, a place that is special to Carly and worth including on her “I do” day.

Carly’s dad waited in the drive for her to arrive for their first look, and let me tell you: Tears were shed. Myself included. While Carly and her father definitely tried to hide their Kleenex from me, there’s no missing how emotional and heartfelt this moment between father and daughter was.

Jaw-Dropping First Look

We then made our way over to the sophisticated and well-known Bar Lurcat in downtown Minneapolis for the couple’s first look.

Prior to this moment, one of Bar Lurcat’s biggest claims to fame was that Lady GaGa dined and was photographed here. But that was before they hosted this Old Hollywood microwedding and gave the “new” Hollywood Mother Monster a run for her money.

I mean, the first look alone puts Lady GaGa to shame. Care to disagree? I think not.

Doug turned around to see his soon-to-be wife and promptly lost his wits. And can you blame him? Standing there in her simple and timeless gown, with her hair swept up in an elegant low knot and her face absolutely beaming, Carly was the definition of ‘wow factor.’

A Microwedding Ceremony for the Ages

Then came the ceremony, officiated by Carly’s aunt. And oh my my, we deserve a Kleenex endorsement after how many tissues we all used.

Carly’s walk down the aisle-of-sorts that we created with a couple of rows of chairs. Doug’s weak attempt to keep his cool as Carly made her way toward him. (Grooms, you might as well not even try to hold it together. You will fail.) The vows– oh my gosh, THE VOWS. The gorgeous chandelier hanging over the newlyweds heads as they had their first kiss as husband and wife. The way Doug just could not stop stealing glances at Carly throughout their wedding rites.

It was all just too perfect.

Post Cocktail Hour Field Trip

Following a lovely little cocktail hour, the newlyweds and their guests all piled onto a party bus to venture to Three Jack for a little golf simulation. This little field trip just goes to show that you can literally do anything you want for your wedding. If you want to go swing some golf clubs before dinner, then that’s what we’ll do! And that’s what we did.

Microwedding Harvest Table Dinner Reception

We closed out the microwedding back at Bar Lurcat for a sweet dinner reception, everyone sitting around a beautiful harvest table dressed up with the most elegant tablescape details. As Carly and Doug sat at the head of the table, I’m willing to bet they felt pretty darn lucky to be surrounded by all of their favorite people on the best day of their whole dang lives.
